New Version of the Beatles ‘Let it Be’ Film to be Released!

Paul McCartney said in an interview with Radio X in Quebec, Canada, that a new version of the Let it Be film is likely to be released. He said that the original film was about the Beatles break-up and was sad. However, Paul said that there is over 50 hours of footage, and the overall feeling was “Joyous, just 4 guys making music. He added the new film could come out in “a year or too”

What do you think of this? Should the original film be released, or a new version. Is making a new version re-writing history?

You can hear Paul’s interview at https://soundcloud.com/yannick-tremblay-440252994/entrevue-paul-mccartney-edit – Paul talks about Let It Be around 7:40.

  1. I’ve seen the original Let It Be so I’d love to see new footage. The new film wouldn’t be rewriting history because the new footage really did happen. The new footage of Let It Be really did happen, we just haven’t seen it.

  2. It would be great to have a pristine, re-edited version of Let It Be. But it will be somewhat embarrassing and, to use Paul’s word, “sad” if it deletes the important scenes that documented how the band was drifting apart. (In particular, the scene in which George is pissed at Paul for, in George’s opinion, being too controlling.) Please give us a sparkling revised Let It Be but not a whitewashed and airbrushed Let It Be. There is no shame in the fact that The Beatles were human in all their greatness and imperfections.

    1. So you’d rather NOT see new footage? that’s insane.

I say they give us the original film restored, and wholly new one as well. Hell, give us all 50 hours lol
