Abbey Road Crossing Update

Work is continuing on the relaying of the road surface in Abbey Road – but the crossing still hasn’t been restored.

Don’t worry though, it will be soon. I’ve seen many reports that it’s gone for good – not true!! Abbey Road has been relaid many times since 1969, and the crossing is always put back in the same place.

I expect the crossing to be restored by the weekend.

Paul McCartney News Update!

Following on from photos over the last few days, another uncaptioned photo has appeared on Paul’s social media outlets, this time Paul in a recording studio playing piano. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bj-KSiGHNiE/?taken-by=paulmccartney

It has also been announced that Paul’s appearance on ‘Carpool Karaoke’ – filmed on Saturday in Liverpool, will be shown early next week. We are guessing on Monday, which is Paul’s birthday.

An unconfirmed report suggests that Paul’s new album will come out this Friday. Expect and announcement soon!

Abbey Road Crossing Disappears!!

Beatles fans on my tour today got a shock when we arrived at Abbey Road today – the Abbey Road Crossing had disappeared!! The road surface on Abbey Road is being relaid, and the famous white stripes were not there. Don’t panic though, the crossing will be back by the weekend.

Unable to pose on the crossing, fans were seeking compensation by taking clumps of the dug-up crossing as souvenirs!

Big Paul McCartney Announcement Soon?

Following on from his ‘secret gig’ in Liverpool, Paul McCartney has posted another mysterious photo on his instragam account – without saying what it is about.

This time it is the inside of a recording studio. It has long been rumoured that Paul is about to release a new album, so the photo could be a clue for that. I guess we will find out soon!

Blue Plaque for 3 Savile Row?

Last week I was talking with a resident of Savile Row and we wondered why there wasn’t any sort of commemoration at 3 Savile Row, where of course the Beatles had their ‘Apple’ HQ, and played on the roof for their last ever live performance.

We though it would be a great idea if English Heritage put up a commemorative blue plaque on the building. Those of you who have visited London will know that these are put up to celebrate famous people and the buildings they live and worked in.

On the 40th anniversary of the rooftop concert I was lucky enough to go on the roof, and at the same time was shown a plaque (see below) that Westminster Council wanted to put on the building, but it seems the owners didn’t want it. I believe the building has been sold since then.

I will be contacting various Beatles people and organisations in the coming days to see what they think, and to take things further.

Do you agree that there should be a commemoration to the Beatles at 3 Savile Row? If so, please leave a comment below, or email me at richardandirina@tiscali.co.uk

Update 31st January 2019

The application for the blue plaque has been submitted to Westminster Council – but did go through before January 30th, for the 50 anniversary. However, we are expecting to get approval in mid February, with the plaque unveiled as soon as we can after that.

The rejected ‘City of Westminster’ Plaque. Beatles ‘pop band’?? The wording could have been better!

Ringo’s Hamburg Gig Cancelled?

I’ve just heard that Ringo Starr’s gig in Hamburg, scheduled for tonight, has been cancelled. More when we get it.

Update – It’s apparently re-scheduled for tomorrow.

“The concert of ex-Beatle Ringo Starr in Hamburg has to be postponed. For reasons of health, Ringo Starr is not able to play the concert scheduled for Sunday evening in Hamburg’s Stadtpark as planned, at the express instruction of his doctors, the organizers announce. New date is on Monday (19 clock, admission: 17:30 clock) in the city park. All cards remain valid. The fans then expect a jazzy evening with psychedelic light play – with the Ringo and his All Starrs already excited at the tour opening in Flensburg. – Source: https://www.shz.de/20089882 © 2018”
