John Oliver, Hugh Laurie, Michael Shannon, David Tennant Play The Beatles In Colbert Sketch

On last night’s edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the late-night host recruited a slew of prominent actors and entertainers to help bring the ideas of a panel of “the most influential minds in the prized 6-8-year-old demographic” to life in a hilarious sketch dubbed “Kids Pitch.”

After an exhaustive session with the kids, Colbert’s focus group came to the conclusion that the new TV show they wanted to pitch would need to feature “very famous group band,” The Beatles (one kid, a young Beatles superfan, stuck to his Revolver when challenged on what their best album was). The focus group also came up with various thematic criteria including fighting and music (which, of course, means “rap battle”) as well as creepiness, aliens, Nick Cannon and Brooke Shields, among other things

Following the adorable market-research segment, Colbert debuted the kids’ new TV creation, Strangest Things, Season One: The Golden Mysteries. The comically low-budget yet incredibly star-studded “show” indeed featured The Beatles—played in masterful deadpan by John Oliver (Paul McCartney), David Tennant (George Harrison), and Michael Shannon (Ringo Starr)—and, you guessed it, Nick Cannon and Brooke Shields.

May 17 1980 Paul and Linda on Saturday Night Live – in their Nightclothes!

May 17 1980 – Paul and Linda McCartney were interviewed by “Father Guido Sarducci” (Don Novello) on Saturday Night Live. They were interviewed live in Soho Square, outside MPL.
The interview was arranged at 11:30pm (US time) but Father Guido forgot about the time difference, and it was 4:30 in the morning that he turned up at MPL to interview Paul and Linda. After throwing stones at the windows of MPL Paul finally comes out in his night clothes, followed by Linda. It was only a few months after Paul’s drug bust in Japan, the the Father wanted to talk about that, rather than Paul’s new single ‘Coming Up’.
You can see the video here – Paul’s bit comes in at 4 mins 30 secs.

Buy a piece of Strawberry Field and help transform iconic Beatles location

Strawberry Field Buy A Brick campaign launched – with money raised going towards redeveloping the famous site into a hub to help young adults with learning disabilities.

A fundraising campaign has been launched to redevelop Liverpool’s Strawberry Field site made famous by the Beatles.

The old Victorian building which stood on the site was demolished in the 70s – with the Salvation Army now looking to turn the location into a hub to help young adults with learning disabilities.

The Strawberry Field Buy A Brick initiative allows Beatles fans to own a piece of the building, with the bricks cleaned, presented in a box, numbered and embossed with a hologram.

They are priced at £75 each, with orders limited to four bricks per customer.

Help! Meghan Markle to Stay in Hotel where the Beatles filmed Part of their Second Film

It’s just been announced that Meghan Markle will stay in Cliveden House Hotel on the night before her wedding to Harry.

She should feel right at home – as Cliveden deputised for Buckingham Palace in the Beatles second film Help! I hope the dreaded Kahili  or mad scientists, wanting her ring, don’t catch up with her there,!!

She might also want to have a swim in the outdoor pool. If she does, I hope she’s wearing more than Christine Keeler was wearing when she first met John Profumo there, the relationship that caused one of the biggest sex scandals of the 60s.

George Harrison’s first electric guitar for sale at £220,000

George Harrison’s first electric guitar has emerged for sale for £220,000.

The legendary Beatle acquired the Hofner Club 40 model in the summer of 1959 as a 16-year-old after trading it for another guitar.

He kept hold of the instrument for seven years as the band went from playing youth clubs to stadiums.

Harrison once described it as “the most fantastic guitar ever”, but was persuaded by manager Brian Epstein to give it away to promote their 1966 Germany tour.
