Beatles London Concert Venue to Become a Comedy Club

The historic former Granada cinema in Walthamstow is to set to be turned into a 1,000 comedy venue and theatre, Waltham Forest Council has announced.

The council is to purchase the venue, which was once graced by the likes of The Beatles and The Who, for £2.6m from current owners EMD Walthamstow LLP and is in discussions with Soho Theatre to operate the venue.

Renovation of the site is estimated to take around three years to complete but when it is finished it is expected to add between £34m and £52m to the local economy over a ten year period, according to the council.

The Beatles first appeared at the Granada on May 24th 1963, on the Roy Orbisson tour, and also on 24th October 1964
